Basic Principles, Case Discussions, Live Surgeries

Cadaver Dissections by Participants

International Faculty of Experts

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Endoscopic techniques are gaining popularity in surgical disciplines, especially so in the youngest of all medical fields- namely neurosurgery. Within neurosurgery, spine surgery, skull-base surgery, and peripheral nerve surgery are subspecialty areas that have come to benefit from endoscopic methods.

Endoscopic surgery is a technique, no more and no less. The endoscope is nothing but a tool in the armamentarium of the modern surgeon, who uses it whenever the tool is called for. Thus the term “endoscopic surgeon” is a tautology.

This workshop focuses on familiarizing the neurosurgeon with endoscopic tools. However, higher knowledge built upon poor basics won’t hold long. Thus the theoretical part will stress the basic principles of disease and management.

Presentation of cases studies and live demonstration of surgical operations will drive home aspects of decision making and application.

Finally, hands-on exercises using the endoscopic tools in the anatomy lab will give us a “haptic-feedback” of what we had been talking about and observing so far. At the same time, open anatomical dissections following the endoscopic dissections will buttress the three dimensional understanding of the anatomy.

Divided into three modules and spanning over three days, we are fortunate to have an impressive international faculty of experts for our course, who travel across continents to share their knowledge with us.

Our ultimate aim would be fulfilled, if the participants of our workshop, return to us in the future as experts and faculty members.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in September 2019!

Sincerely Yours,

Kartik G. Krishnan
